Is Bryant Goldstone Retiring the AMC Javelin and Going Unlimited? New Drag-and-Drive Ride for 2025 Will Be Revealed at PRI Show This Week!
He may have gotten his start in drag-and-drive with a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, but the black and red AMC Javelin of Bryant Goldstone has become a well known ride. Based on its percentage of events completed, class wins, and records broken and set, Goldstone has set the bar for the Unlimited Iron class.
But this week will bring the reveal of a third street and strip ready ride for Goldstone in 2025, as he takes aim on quicker times, and the Unlimited class.
Just 7 DAYS LEFT to win this unique ’52 Nash Race Car - December 15th is the final day! Every dollar you spend, from merchandise to a subscription to the Sick the Mag print magazine, gets an entry! Click HERE to visit our store!
We first saw Goldstone in Hot Rod Drag Week competition in 2010, with his small-tire Chevelle with a ProCharger-fed big block. He earned a Modified Power Adder class win in 2012, and finished second in 2013.
Then Goldstone would debut the AMC Javelin in 2014, making the jump to big tires and turbochargers in search of quicker time slips. He didn’t score victory at the AMC’s first event, but the Unlimited Iron class victories would belong to Goldstone in 2015, 2016, and 2018, his next three appearances.
Bringing the car back after a complete rebuild following a crash at the 2021 edition of Hot Rod Drag Week, Goldstone picked up right where he left off with his fourth Unlimited Iron class win at Drag Week 2022.
Goldstone didn’t slow at all in 2023, scoring class victories at three major events: Sick Summer Presented by TBM Brakes, Hot Rod Drag Week and Southeast Street ‘N Yeet, as well as being named Drag Drive Repeat’s World Champion.
2024 found Goldstone and the AMC soaring to even higher levels, as he captured class wins at four events: Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, Sick Summer Presented by Motion Raceworks, Rocky Mountain Race Week (RMRW) 1.0 Presented by Sick the Magazine, and Hot Rod Drag Week.
In addition to those stats, Goldstone captured the overall quickest car honors at RMRW, Sick Summer and Hot Rod Drag Week. He also collected an unprecedented THREE Gear Vendors Overdrive guitars, given to drivers that completed their event with a top three quickest average, during the award ceremonies of Sick Week, Sick Summer, and Hot Rod Drag Week.
Goldstone also won the overall title as the quickest car at Hot Rod Drag Week, his first-ever at the event. So this begs the question: what’s next for Goldstone, and why is he switching cars?
“I built this car before they had Unlimited cars, just to beat (Larry) Larsen,” said Goldstone after winning Hot Rod Drag Week this year. Clocking a best run of 6.40 at 225 mph in competition with a car that’s required to weigh in at a minimum 3,000 pounds, one can’t help but bench race what Goldstone could do with his combination in a lighter chassis.
We will see the third ride that Goldstone will compete in drag-and-drive competition at this week’s Performance & Racing Industry (PRI) show in Indianapolis, Indiana in the XS Power booth.
“Goldstone has been a customer of ours for several years,” said Remy Viator of XS Power. “We got to talking about his new car, and we agreed it should be debuted at the PRI show in our booth.”
While the rumor mill has been active about what it could be, Goldstone has remained tight lipped on what it is. It will be revealed on Thursday, December 12th at 12:30 p.m. at booth 3621.
And, just for clarification, the AMC Javelin is not getting retired according to Goldstone. “Not retiring the Javelin,” said Goldstone. “It will be at certain events; just want a little lighter car to be able to compete for the top prize! It will be on stand by ready to go!”
