This ‘67 Chevy C10 Truck Drag-And-Drives With a 96mm Turbo

“It’s not a car, it’s a truck.” That’s how Anthony McDowell starts off the conversation about his ‘67 C10 Chevy when we find him in the tech line at Midwest Drags. And what a truck it is.

The 2021-finished build was put together by Modern Muscle Car Factory in Indiana, with McDowell happy to declare he was ‘just the driver’ for the beautiful short-bed.

“Scott Klepinger pulled out the big block Chev and installed the LS turbo, along with everything on the chassis from the four-link to the roll cage,” McDowell explained.

McDowell borrowed the giant 96mm turbo, which would help him to an average of 11.917/110.39mph by the end of Summit Midwest Drags 2021, the car’s debut. Though the team had to replace a fuel pump, it was otherwise a trouble free trip.

Much of the appeal of Summit Midwest Drags for Anthony was getting to spend time with his son Justin.

“It’s some father/son time, I coached Justin in high school sports so this will be a bonding week,” Anthony said.

“Drag racing has been in my blood since I was 15 or 16 years old. We street raced in Indiana way before there was Street Outlaws. Back then a 12 second car on regular radials was really fast.”
