As the drag-and-drive world continues to gain steam with more events and bigger performances, there are a small group of people that are doing their part to bring a little more attention to the community.

One of them is Bryant Goldstone, a competitor that has re-written the record book in the Ultimate Iron / Unlimited Iron classes with a 1973 AMC Javelin that’s become a staple at drag-and-drive events.

Today at the Performance and Racing Industry (PRI) show in Indianapolis, Bryant pulled the cover off his newest effort for drag-and-drive in 2025.

The World Cup Finals Import vs. Domestic event at Maryland International Raceway is a highly anticipated event each year. Maryland in November normally means cooler temperatures, and combined with Jason Miller’s track prep, normally results in personal bests and racing in front of packed grandstands.

After three days of intense qualifying in eleven class, round one of eliminations got underway on Saturday afternoon for the classes that featured 32-car qualified fields, and by Sunday night, all eleven champions were crowned.

Well known in the small tire and no-prep circles, the ‘Beater Bomb’ Ford Mustang has been winning on practically every surface for over a decade. Joey Hiykel’s Mustang is an eighth-mile rocket, and although he usually keeps things under wraps on engine combination and performances, he recently dropped a new record and revealed times.

After pushing his first ‘Snot Rocket’ Ford Mustang into the 6-second range at over 200 mph, Brett LaSala made the jump in 2022 to a lighter chassis to pursue his next set of goals.

After two years, multiple victories and becoming a record-holder in the drag-and-drive scene, the ‘Snot Rocket 2.0’ 2012 Mustang has gone up for sale.

The drag-and-drive community can get a harsh reminder that just surviving the week is the top task. Then again, Rocky Mountain Race Week 1.0 is still seeing some competitors clocking insane times, and the index classes continue to be close battle grounds.

Although we’re almost used to seeing 6-second and 7-second runs from drag-and-drive cars, it can still require a good amount of money, time and broken parts to get there.

Entering its eighth year on a multitude of platforms, the 235 tire continues to gain interest and new competitors. The 26-inch-tall x 8.5-inch width tire may have originally gotten a home with mostly 5-second rides on the eighth-mile standard, but it’s pushed several rides into the 4-second zone in 2023 and 2024.
