Brett LaSala Puts Record-Holding Drag-and-Drive Mustang Up For Sale – New Car Build to Break the 5-Second Barrier in Drag-and-Drive Trim Revealed

After pushing his first ‘Snot Rocket’ Ford Mustang into the 6-second range at over 200 mph, Brett LaSala made the jump in 2022 to a lighter chassis to pursue his next set of goals.

After two years, multiple victories and becoming a record-holder in the drag-and-drive scene, the ‘Snot Rocket 2.0’ 2012 Mustang has gone up for sale.

Purchased as a rolling chassis from stick shift racer Joel Steele as the stick shift record holder at the time, LaSala wasted no time by installed a fresh Fast Forward Race Engines coyote with twin Precision Turbo & Engine turbochargers in the proven Mustang chassis.

Within ten passes of being built and debuted, the car delivered a 6.66 at 211 mph, nearly three-tenths of-a-second quicker than he ran with the original ‘Snot Rocket.’

He was immediately competitive at the 2022 edition of FL2K and World Cup Finals, and just three months later, we witnessed the beginning of the car’s multiple victories to come at the 2023 edition of Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive.

That first class victory in Sick Week’s Modified class, anchored with a best pass of 6.52 at 212 mph on day one, led to an average of 6.74 for the week.

LaSala also captured the Extreme 28s versus Tres Cuarto class win for a $10,000 winner payout at FL2K in October of 2023, a victory at the World Cup Finals about a month later, and then a shootout and Extreme 28 class win at the ModNationals just one week later.

After some impressive test sessions, LaSala and ‘Snot Rocket 2.0’ rolled into Sick Week this year, and shocked the drag-and-drive community with their performance. In route to capturing his second-straight Modified class win, LaSala also made history with a 6.34 average, the quickest ever for a radial-tire ride in drag-and-drive.

The car has also claimed a Street Car Shootout class victory this year at TX2K, and clicked off an eye-opening 3.998 at 187.99 mph blast during a test session at South Georgia Motorsports Park just a couple weeks later.

But the goalposts are always moving in drag racing, and in reading the ‘for sale’ post on Facebook today, LaSala has made it clear his intention for the next version of ‘Snot Rocket.’

“It will be a small tire radial car,” said LaSala, and will feature the potent driveline from ‘Snot Rocket 2.0’ with a target debut of Sick Week 2025.

The new car will come to life at Moore Race Chassis under the watchful eye of fellow drag-and-drive competitor Matt Moore. “It will be a small tire radial car,” said LaSala, and will feature the potent driveline from ‘Snot Rocket 2.0’ with a target debut of Sick Week 2025.

Only one car has ever cracked the 5-second barrier in drag-and-drive history. Could LaSala become the second one to do it, and possibly the first on a radial tire?
