PFI Speed’s Brent Leivestad and Jamie Lankford Get Trevor and Erin Branden’s GT-R Ready for 7-Second Blasts at Sick Week, Brent and Jamie Will Also Make the Trip to Florida!

One of the preferred “jack of all trades” cars, the Nissan GT-R has become a car that has showed up and done work in everything from drag-and-drive to no-prep.

This 2010 GT-R model of Trevor and Erin Branden in particular has done quite a bit of work on the Rocky Mountain Race Week trail, but they’re taking the next step and making the trip this week to Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive!

Trevor’s goal in 2023 was to go from the roll cage-limited 8.50 range to the lucky 7-second zone! “My goal for 2023 was to get my first 7-second pass at Bandimere before it shuts down,” he said. Unfortunately, his results fell a little bit short, but that’s given him renewed determination for the 2024 season.

To put those plans into motion, they turned to Brent and Jamie at PFI Speed, who they had used before for help. “The guys at PFI Speed are always at work to help out racers,” Trevor said. “They are true drag-and-drive fans.”

So the GT-R would go under the knife for multiple reason. The first was an upgrade to a 7.50-legal roll cage to allow Trevor to turn up the wick on his combo.

Originally sporting a 3.8-liter stock block and stock crankshaft engine making 1400 horsepower, the GT-R currently houses a T1 Stage 6 4.1-liter stroker engine with an ETS 1700 pro series turbo kit with Garrett turbochargers and an ETS Race intercooler.

The combination dyno-tuned to 1660 wheel-horsepower last year, with a Motec standalone ECU engine management system controlling all the vital functions.

With the car safer for the 7-second blasts, the fuel system got some upgrades as well to handle the increased workload. The GT-R also went on a diet, with a carbon fiber dashboard among the changes.

The last piece of the puzzle is getting the most from the new set-up, and Brent will be jumping into the passenger seat to be the co-pilot at Sick Week.

Jamie is uncertain what he will be doing on Sick Week, as he could be jumping into the co-pilot role, or joining the drive as a Sick Ward participant. What is for certain is Jamie will be joining Brent and the Brandens to make the 29-hour trip from Colorado to Florida.

PFI Speed will joined by other drag-and-drive personalities at Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, including BoostedBoiz, Steve Morris, Derek from Vice Grip Garage, Alex Taylor, SXS Blog, Kevin Smith of KSR, and over 300 more drag-and-drive competitors looking to enjoy a week in Florida. Also, we’ll have a large group of people in the Sick Ward portion of Sick Week, literally a rolling car show!
