Midwest Drags 2022 ready for launch despite wild weather on tech day

The summer of drag-and-drive is here, with Summit Midwest Drags locked and loaded for its third running.

Ohio offered up the cliched ‘four seasons in a day’ as racers teched in and got some testing runs completed between torrential downpours at Edgewater Motorsports Park.

Traction proved hard to come by as the day wore on. Ryan Hargett’s Mustang got down there in the seven second zone, thanks to its 2000hp twin turbo Coyote mill. He was joined in the sevens by Glenn Hunter Jr’s drag-and-drive proven ‘56 Chevy. Both guys still have plenty left in reserve for competition.

It was a good day to have Pro Street rubber under the rear end. Zach Havlik’s Chevelle looks the business.

Brent Sinclair’s ‘99 Camaro, out of the same Hargett Automotive and Performance workshop as Ryan’s Mustang above, will be another quick radial car to watch this week.

The ‘78 Mustang might not be as loved as its cousins from the sixties, but Joe Lawrence has given his much improvement. We’ll be looking for this one in the pits tomorrow!

Duane Ruhl had a tough time getting traction with his ‘92 Mustang.

Bob Larson ticks all the gasser boxes - another one we will go looking for to get more detail about this week!

As the rain closed in, testing was brought to an early close shortly after 4pm. Summit Midwest Drags competition will officially begin at 8am on Tuesday morning at the very same venue. See you there!
