Ken Quartuccio Runs the Table in Radial Versus the World, While Recent Sick Week Competitors Josh Davis and Cody Poston Score Titles in the Braggin Rights Classes at Lights Out 16

After four days of cold temperatures, insane racing action and sizable crowds at South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP), some recognizable names and repeats winners led the storylines at one of the biggest drag radial tire themed races, Lights Out 16.

After two days of qualifying, eliminations got underway on Saturday, February 22nd, and were completed on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, by crowning winners in thirteen different classes.

As we covered on Thursday’s first qualifying session story, the Radial Versus the World (RVW) class grabbed headlines when Paolo Guist reset the class record with a 3.479 pass. The other half of that pair, Ken Quartuccio, clocked a 3.49 on that run, but would return on Friday, February 21st, to drop the record further with a 3.743 run.

Quartuccio employed that performance through eliminations, using a pair of 3.4-second runs to score the win, including a 3.49 in the final round over John Ricca in a thrilling 3.49 to 3.50 final round contest.

This not only marked Quartuccio’s second Lights Out victory, but his third final round in as many races, including a pair of Pro Mod final rounds at the Outlaw Snowbird Nationals and the US Street Nationals at Bradenton Motorsports Park.

The Street Car Braggin Rights event got its start in 2022, and for the second year, the event promoter Nate Prater helped bring a ‘Braggin Rights’ class to Lights Out for street cars.

The Braggin Rights class comprises a pair of 16-car qualified fields, with $10,000 in prize money on the line in the final rounds. After three rounds of blind qualifying where scoreboards remained off and competitors didn’t know what each other ran, the group was assembled for a street cruise to serve as the final element to qualify for eliminations.

The team of Devin Vanderhoof and Josh Davis came into this event fresh from a top three overall finish and class win at Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, and they looked to continue that streak with their second-straight Braggin Rights win.

Vanderhoof’s was one of two cars to qualify with a 6-second run, and Davis guided the Mustang convertible to the final round where they faced fellow Mustang owner Jason Sparks. The final round would be an all 6-second affair, with the 6.38 at 228 mph blast from Davis getting the better of a 6.53 at 218 mph pass from Sparks.

The second qualified Braggin Rights was led by home state runner Wade Martin, but by the final round, it would be another Sick Week finisher, Cody Poston lining up his Mustang against the Dodge Charger of Michael England.

The former National Muscle Car Association world champion Poston would get the final win light in the Braggin Rights Elite class, using the car he recently completed his first drag and drive event in, for a holeshot-aided 8.72 to hold off the quicker 8.71 of England, scoring the win and the coveted Street Car Braggin Rights trophy.
