Jeff Lutz’s Mad Max Camaro Breaks the 3000 Horsepower Barrier

Returning to the drag-and-drive game for the first time in just over seven years, Jeff Lutz and his Mad Max ’69 Camaro drew a lot of attention over the course of Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive later just a couple weeks ago.

Although he fell just one day short of completing the week, Jeff collected a fistful of 6-second time slips in testing and on the first four days of Sick Week, the best being a 6.15 at 247.38 mph on day one at Orlando ‘Sick’ World Dragway in Florida.

Just recently, Jeff showed up at FuelTech’s facility in Georgia for a session on their hub dyno. The Pro Mod-style Camaro rolled in sporting the same 540 cubic inch big block with twin 88-millimeter turbochargers from Precision, backed by a Rossler Turbo 400 3-speed automatic and Gear Vendors Overdrive.

Jeff’s Pro Mod Camaro got bolted up to the hub dyno, straped down, gave the thumbs up to FuelTech to put the coals to it, and made an eye-opening pull! Upon completion, the screen showed 3022.6 horsepower!!
