From Drifting to Sick Week, Sarah Fernandez Hits the BullsEye With Her Miata

Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive presents the opportunity for 350 participants to enjoy the fun and grueling task of a drag-and-drive through Florida and Georgia.

Make it to each stop by following a specific route, make at least one pass to stay in competition, and at the end of five days, a ton of memories will be created.

Another unique element of Sick Week is the Sick Ward, where participants get to join fellow Sick Week enthusiasts to enjoy a week of race tracks and the road trips, minus the drag strip passes on their rides.

But once you get a taste of the adventure, it can be an easy want to move from Sick Ward to being a participant in Sick Week.

Sarah Fernandez is one of two from her family that is making the jump from Sick Ward in 2022 to Sick Week participant in 2023. “I road along with family and friends for Sick Ward last year, and it was a ton of fun just watching all the competitors,” said Sarah. The trip had an impact, as instead of doing Sick Ward in 2023, “why not join Sick Week with my own car! My car may be slow, but it’s certainly fun and happy!”

Sarah’s 1997 Mazda Miata is mostly stock, save for some suspension and exhaust upgrades. And even though it may not be amongst the fastest rides on Sick Week, Sarah and her car ‘Pepper’ are excited to participate.

“It’s a huge event that lasts a whole week and its local for me (in Florida),” Sarah said, who will be joined by husband Josh and father-in-law Alberto. “I love the community and atmosphere, and expecting it to be a ton of fun!”
