Will Corsilli Get This Pick-Up Truck Into The 8-Second Range on Sick Week?
Although Michael Corsilli has been drag racing since his seventeenth birthday, 2022 would mark his first time at a drag-and-drive event when he attended Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive.
The 2003 Chevrolet Silverado would enter the Street Race class, but due to lack of safety equipment, Corsilli was limited to 10.00 and slower time slips during the week.
While testing the night before registration and tech day, Corsilli broke the sprag in the Turbo 400 transmission. Luckily, he got it rebuilt on the day of registration in time to make a check out pass before the week started.
With the first day at Bradenton in the books, Corsilli headed for Orlando. But he found his transmission troubles weren’t behind him yet, as his shifter cable seized. Summit Racing had a replacement in stock, and was back on the road to Gainesville for day three. Corsilli finished the week with a 10.46, placing the pick-up just outside the top ten in the Street Race class.

Since Sick Week 2022, Corsilli has upgraded to a full roll cage in the pick-up, and added a parachute as well. The LS-based 402 cubic inch engine with a single turbocharger and a Holley Terminator X has also been tuned up for 2023, with a best pass of 8.95 at 153 mph. “I hope to tech in for the faster group and run eights for the week,” said Corsilli of his Sick Week goals. “It's nice to have shorter drives track to track (on Sick Week), and to be able to hang out longer and meet more people.”
Sick Week 2023 Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive will feature hundreds of America’s fastest street cars, racing and cruising through Florida and southern Georgia. Sick Ward tickets / Individual day spectator tickets are available here.
