Driven Racing Oil Joins Sick The Magazine for 2024, and the Drag-and-Drive Community Returns the Favor With Data to Expand on Their Product Line-up

With so many oil choices on the market, and a lot of changes in some of them necessitated by the engine components used by Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), it can be a little tricky to know what to buy for your ride.

The same oil that protects a modern gas-sipping 4-cylinder could also be used in a stock modern muscle car, but it might not protect it as well depending on your exercise choices for that vehicle. That’s where special blends of oil like Driven Racing Oil come in.

Tom Bailey knows from over a decade of experience that drag-and-drive cars can bring a different set of factors to the table versus a regular street and strip car, or even a high horsepower race car. Getting Driven Racing Oil to join Sick the Mag for our 2024 event season was more than just a sponsorship; it was a chance for Driven to get feedback and possibly develop new oils.

“When we got together with Tom Bailey, it was because we saw the drag-and-drive segment exploding,” said Bill Alexander of Driven Racing Oil. “The demands of these rides can be different than any other market we’ve seen, and we wanted to get first-hand data and feedback from competitors to use in our analysis.”

A few of the people that jumped into the fray with Driven Racing Oil are well known in the drag-and-drive world, Rajveer Ahuja and Richard Guido. “These two probably put more miles on their stuff than anyone else,” Bill said. “We can learn about the demands they put their oil through.”

Bryant Goldstone, Jeremy Ortiz, Rob Courtney, Damon Elff, Cameron Alley, and the Cryer Family are also part of the Driven Racing Oil team.

When we first discussed Driven Racing Oil’s involvement at Sick Week, Bill stated it was a little too soon to know exactly what the oil testing would show. But he’s encouraged, and continues to get feedback from the drag-and-drive community.

With over a quarter-century of data and history for Driven Racing Oil, going back to when they got their start as Joe Gibbs Driven Racing Oil, they engineered the oil around the engine and how it is used.

This includes operating conditions, having the right balance of additives like zinc, phosphorus and sulfur, and constantly learning what new demands mean to their line up with either changes to existing products, or possibly new oils to better tackle customer needs.
