Death Trap Ford Pick-Up Truck Bringing Big Blown Burnouts to Sick Powerfest

One burnout vehicle is good, so naturally three must be better! The Boosted Ride camp will bring three vehicles to participate in the burnout competition at Summit Sick Powerfest, and today’s subject is the first build they completed, a 1967 Ford F100 nicknamed Death Trap.

Adam Kelley was in the mindset of setting this F100 up for drag racing, when his mindset changed. “It turned into a street build,” said Adam. “After seeing Cleetus McFarland have his first burnout competition, and always enjoying watching the Aussies and their burnout competitions, we decided to give it a try.”

The ’67 Ford pick-up made the transition from street brawler to burnout competitor three years ago, and it’s an eye catcher. From the trucks supercharged engine, to the crazy external appearance including green lighting, Adam gets the audience as excited to watch as he is to participate.

“The events continue to grow and evolve and we enjoy being a part of that,” said Adam. “The heart pounding, ground shaking adrenalin gets me pumped every time to go out on that pad and put on the best show I can!”

To give him all the loud pedal he needs to melt the tires instantly if needed, Adam went with a 522 cubic inch big block Chevrolet engine.

Based on a Dart aftermarket block with all forged rotating parts and Dart cylinder heads, Adam went for the tall factor with a tunnel ram with an adapter plate to allow the Littlefield 8-71 supercharger to bolt on top. A Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission sends the power to the tires waiting to be destroyed.

“This will be our first time at the M1 Concourse and we are excited to be a part of it,” said Adam. “Hopefully we can put on one heck of a show for everyone!”
