Would You Race On A 330ft Drag Strip? A New Racing Facility for Street Legal Vehicles in California

Considered by many as the birthplace of the sport of drag racing, California was home to nearly 60 tracks and racing on airport runways by 1960. In total, more than 90 tracks and converted runways have seen drag racing action in California since 1931.

Now, just eight member race tracks are listed by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) in California.

A new track, Street Legal Dragway, is nearing completion in the city of Perris, California. Located on the Southern California Fairgrounds and designed as what could be the first-ever 330-foot track, Street Legal Dragway marks the first track in California sanctioned under the World Drag Racing Alliance (WDRA).

The track’s aim is to provide a safe and legal platform for regional street car enthusiasts, and WDRA partnered with visionary Andy Marocco in this new venture as a way to curb illegal street racing.

The track has received support from the State of California as well as the Riverside County Sheriff.
