Borggren Continues Winning Streak at World Series of No Prep at Milan Dragway, Fellow Drag-And-Drive Competitor Garlock Also Scores Victory

Just one week after picking up his second-straight Small Tire class victory at the MotorTrend Presents Roadkill Nights event on the streets of Woodward Avenue, Mikael Borggren rolled to Milan Dragway in Milan, Michigan for the World Series of No Prep PYOP DetroithoodTV event.

Running from the shut down area of the track, Borggren made the switch from drag radials to slicks for the event to participate in the Small Tire class.

The event featured several cars and trucks from the recent Roadkill Nights event, including fellow drag-and-drive competitors Nick Diehl, Travis Martin, and Adam Hodson.

The Small Tire class was one of nine different class hosted at the track that day, but Small Tire proved to be the most popular with 70 cars on the property.

Working his way through the field to the final round, Borggren was to face Michigan resident John Quick’s turbocharged Mustang. Unfortunately, Quick had hurt the engine in the semifinal round, preventing him from staging for the finals against Borggren, giving the LS-swapped Volvo wagon the win.

“After getting harassed for a while to go to the dark side of drag racing and do some no prep, it was time to see what the old wagon could do on the asphalt surface,” said Borggren. “This was the first time on the back of Milan for the wagon, so wasn't sure how it was going to do.”

Joining Borggren as one of the class winners was fellow drag-and-drive competitor Tyler Garlock.

Coming off a third-place finish in the Stick Shift class at the Sick Summer Presented by TBM Brakes event, Garlock claimed the top spot in the Stick Shift category with his Gen 3 Hemi swapped ’98 Mustang.

Winners in all classes also got the coveted NHRA ‘Speed For All’ Wally trophy in addition to their class payouts.
