Whether Nitrous or Blower, This Classic ’55 Chevrolet Coming to Sick Week Ready to Party

For Hilbert Osborne, owning a classic 1955 Chevrolet without the look and performance to back it up.

The silver Chevy 210 2-door sports the classic Pro Street look, but unlike the occasional poser rides, Hilbert has made sure to address the power level.

“At drag-and-drive events, you’re not just saying you have a fast street car,” said Hilbert. “You’re proving it!”

After attending a few Hot Rod Drag Week events with an 8-71 blower atop his 555 cubic inch big block Chevrolet powerplant, Hilbert switched to the nitrous camp for Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive last year.

Grabbing a handful of low 9-second time slips, day five at Bradenton Motorsports Park rewarded Hilbert with his best pass of the week, an 8.87 at 151 mph, finishing the week at a 9.04 average and a third-place finish in the Pro Street class.

Hilbert hopes to post an 8-second elapsed time at each stop on Sick Week this year, and will have his wife Anissa joining him for her first drag-and-drive event. “Her happiness is my biggest challenge,” said Hilbert. “But with shorter drives on Sick Week to get to the hotel earlier and hang out with your friends and fellow competitors, I should be good!”
