This Mustang Not Only Completed Its First Drag-and-Drive, but Also a Comeback, at Sick Week 2024 Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive

A little over a year ago, Zach Meyers experienced a frightening top end fire in this car, the OG ‘Snot Rocket.’

The 2013 Mustang was only in its second event under Zach’s guidance, and just after posting a personal best of 7.16 at 200 mph on the scoreboards at South Georgia Motorsports Park, the crankshaft snout snapped off.

“That caused an oil fire that burned all the electrical and plumbing and paint,” said Zach, who escaped without harm, but the same couldn’t be said for this iconic Mustang.

One year later, the one of just over 3700 Gotta Have It Green Mustangs produced was back in all its glory. ‘Snot Rocket 1.5’ as Zach calls it went through a thorough amount of work to get back to fighting condition, and Zach left no stone unturned.

With a new bullet from Fast Forward Race Engines and plenty of power, Zach also made the call to upgrade to a 25.3-spec chassis, as well as add a fire suppression system. Previous owner Brett LaSala lent his help in rewiring the car, as well as adding new goodies from Motec to control and monitor all functions.

To come back from the fire that sidelined him, combined with a new event he’d never competed in, might rattle some, but Zach was up to the task.

He brought well-known tuner Joe Goodnough along in the co-pilot role, and Zach’s wife Tasha and kids jumped in as part of Sick Ward. Tasha even sang the national anthem at three of the stops during Sick Week.

The Track Channel recently released a video about Zach’s Sick Week experience, including an overview of the car, engine and features, as well as recapping each of Zach’s passes.
