Third Edition of Southeast Street-N-Yeet Sells Out in Under an Hour Today

The brainchild of Devin Vanderhoof, the Southeast Street-N-Yeet drag-and-drive event has taken place in North and South Carolina for the last two years.

Originally launched as a fall event in 2022, last year found the popular eighth-mile event expanding to a pair of events, with the new addition in the spring.

But for 2024, Devin and fiance Laura Weber announced it would be back to a single event for 2024, and although it’s slightly less than nine months away, Southeast Street-N-Yeet has sold out for 2024.

When the announcement was made that the event structure would be going back to a single event in 2024, it wasn’t long before it was also revealed that a new track would be added into the mix.

As before, the starting track for the event will be Shadyside Dragway in Shelby, North Carolina on Thursday, November 7th, where check-in and tech inspection and day one racing activities will take place. Friday brings the event to South Carolina Motorplex in Neeses, South Carolina for morning racing, and then the competitors jump back on the street to travel to Carolina Dragway in Aiken for the second-half of a double dose of racing at night!

Saturday brings the tour to the new track in the rotation, Mooresville Dragway in Mooresville, North Carolina, and the group will return to Shadyside Dragway for final action and winner celebrations on Sunday November 10th.

Past participants got a chance to grab a participant spot up until today, February 18th at 9 am Eastern Standard Time, when the gates opened to the general public to jump in.

Less than an hour later, all 200 spots were off the market, and the wait list opened. As with several other big events, we encourage interested parties to get on the wait list; as events get closer, it’s typically for some to drop out due to parts availability or schedule conflicts.

The five classes that Southeast Street-N-Yeet started with in 2022 will return for 2024:

-          Unlimited Yeet (no rules)

-          Limited Yeet (275 max tire, small block with power adders, big block naturally-aspirated only)

-          Yeet Stick (clutch assisted manual transmission – except Lenco, 29.5” x 10.5W” slick or 315 radial)

-          Tiny Tire (26” x 8.5” width or 235 tire)

-          Dial Your Own Yeet (consistency based on average and time slips turned in).

The new class added for last year’s fall event is Daily Driver, which tied the Unlimited class for the most entries at the 2023 fall event. The rules for the new class are:

-          Must use a factory-type overdrive transmission (4L80, 4R70, AOD, etc.).

-          Racing tires are required – no hard tires allowed.

-          Functioning windshield wipers and radio required.

-          Exhaust must be run to within 18 inches of the rear axle; no front or side exit or bullhorns allowed.

-          Must have a rear seat if equipped with one from the factory.

-          Methanol is not allowed.
