The ‘Canadian Chuck Norris’ Richard Guido Bringing His Brutal Stick Shift Turbocharged GTO to Edelbrock Sick 66

He doesn’t own a truck and trailer. He drives a classic muscle car in the snow. He likes to use the clutch pedal and pull the shifter handle.

Richard Guido is not afraid to put in the work and miles to attend a drag-and-drive – and we’ll see him and his stick-shift Pontiac GTO on Edelbrock Sick 66 starting next week!

Route 66 + drag-and-drive = the ultimate event of 2024? Don’t miss Edelbrock Sick 66, starting NEXT WEEK, October 10th-18th, 2024. It’s Route 66, plus 6 different race tracks and over 30 awesome checkpoints. Discounted spectator tickets and Sick Ward spots are still available - CLICK HERE for more information.

Guido, better known to the masses as the ‘Canadian Chuck Norris’ will make his way from Alberta to Missouri to tackle Route 66, nearly a 1900 mile trek to Ozark Raceway Park. “Sick 66 will be my 21st drag-and-drive since I started at Hot Rod Drag Week in 2013,” said Guido.

In the decade since, Guido has made his mark on the drag-and-drive community, traveling north of 20,000 miles in a single year to participate in multiple drag-and-drive events. His weapon of choice is a familiar black 1965 Pontiac GTO, and it keeps the masses happy in multiple ways.

For the Pontiac enthusiasts, it’s Pontiac powered with a 521 cubic inch Pontiac engine under the factory-style scooped hood. Packing a single 94-millimeter turbocharger, it make all the cool boost noises that make people pay attention.

People also pay attention when they find out Guido likes to shift it, banging the shift lever on a T-56 Magnum manual transmission fortified by G-Force Transmissions.

Despite a nearly 4,000 pound race weight, Guido has managed a best of 8.51 at 166 mph, clocked on day three of this year’s Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, in route to an 8.71 average and a second-place finish.

For 2024, Guido participated on Sick Week, Miles of Mayhem, and the recent Motion Raceworks Rocky Mountain Race Week 2.0 (Raceweek) Presented by Sick the Magazine for drag-and-drive events.

But he also did the Small Tire Gangsters event at Yellow Belly. “Loved the Yellow Belly event,” said Guido. “It was a blast, and I plan on going back next year.”

Can Guido bring enough to Edelbrock Sick 66 to challenge for the top spot, and possibly walk away with the ‘Quickest Stick Shift” or “Quickest Pontiac” awards?

Come out and see hundreds of competitors, as well as Sick Ward vehicles, on the ‘one-time-only’ Edelbrock Sick 66 event, October 10th through October 18th, 2024!

It’s the ultimate once-in-a-lifetime road trip, on the ultimate road: Route 66! Eight days, 6 tracks, over 1300 miles, more than 30 checkpoints along ‘American’s Highway!’
