Originally opened in 1978, Crossville Dragway has enjoyed some successful seasons in the middle-east area of Tennessee. Hosting everything from Pro Mods to no-prep, Street Outlaws to a street-car series, the track has survived several owners. And although the current lease holder stated the track could be shutting down for 2025 just a few weeks ago, a popular social media figure and business owner has recently stepped up to take the facility to the next level in 2025.

Communication is an important tool in any relationship, and this can even more important in racing, as the car and driver being in sync can allow them both to perform at their best. How can we use communication to keep the hobbies of cars, racing and drag-and-drive alive?

The news for drag strips has already had some good headlines in 2024, and unfortunately, some bad ones as well. And while we recently reported on plans for a South Dakota drag strip to reopen in 2025, a track in southern Florida could also make its final laps in 2025.

While we did write about several track closures in 2023, it was refreshing to hear and see about a few tracks coming back to life as well. It’ll be just a few weeks before a popular track in Alabama re-opens with a new name, Rocket City Dragway, this spring.

Tom Bailey has tested and raced at Milan Dragway a bunch, and wanted to do more to support a local track. “We want to give back to the sport and the tracks that have created some amazing memories for us.”

Over the weekend, rumors began swirling that Sturgis Dragway in South Dakota might be closing for the 2024 season, and possibly beyond.
