While a lot of North America is done racing for the 2024 season, Florida is one of a couple states that can boast racing year round. One of the big events that has a lot of history is the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals at Bradenton Motorsports Park, and for the 53rd edition of the event, there were some shocking results this past weekend.

For the first time in 2024, the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals would signal the first event of a three race Drag Illustrated Winter Series Points Championship series. Of the twelve classes contested at the Snowbirds, Pro Mod caught the majority of the attention both leading up the event, as well as during. 64 drivers got invitations to participate, but just 32 would play for $50,000 to win in Sunday eliminations.

After two-plus years away from the scene, Doug Cook and his storied 1972 Chevrolet Nova came into 2024 with some goals. By October, the Nova has already put in a bunch of street miles, delivered a chunk of solid runs on the track, and even won a Sick Summer class. But Doug and the crew aren’t done yet, but recently they checked off a big box during a test session.

Two years ago, the popular Bradenton Motorsports Park was hit with a massive amount of wind and rain from Hurricane Ian, and the resulting damage forced the popular FL2K event north to Gainesville Raceway in northern Florida, where it was completed.

This time around, Hurricane Helene skirted the area, but Bradenton Motorsport Park survived the weather to host their FL2K event over the weekend.

Featuring 10 classes and north of $35,000 of payouts, The Reunion at Bradenton Motorsports Park (BMP) in Florida took place on April 19th and 20th, with some impressive results!

Florida No-Time Racing hosts a pair of races at Bradenton Motorsports Park in Bradenton, Florida each year, and after a two-week delay due to weather, Battle in the Bay 7 was completed yesterday at BMP.

So a 3.99 pass might not have been in the cards, but that doesn’t mean LaSala didn’t try to get there. With Job Spetter tuning “from the hallway of his hotel (on vacation)”, LaSala continued to pick away at his elapsed time record.

Even though the NHRA didn’t specifically name the track or area that is slated to possibly get the event, one track is an odds-in favorite to get the nod.

As in 2023, a stacked field of Pro Mod entries came into Florida looking to secure the $100,000 payday in the World Series of Pro Mod event, and every qualifying hit mattered. The 32-car field would see a .066 of-a-second spread amongst the 32 qualifiers, a tight field indeed.

The event, which will pay in excess of 1.3 million dollars, will showcase the quickest and fastest classes in drag racing, including the nitro-burning Top Fuel Dragsters and Fuel Funny Cars.

With Florida racing nearly year-round, Cleetus McFarland decided to cross drag racing with the Christmas spirit, and each December, Bradenton Motorsports Park hosts a Christmas Tree Drag Racing World Championship.
