Summit Racing Equipment Cruise-In at Don Garlits Museum Will Be Sick!
America’s quickest street cars will be making a historic stop at the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing, thanks to Summit Racing Equipment, during the first ever Sick Week, presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive.
Sick Week is a drag racing event that sees street-legal cars compete at five tracks over five days, driving on public roads in between. Competitors are allowed to tow a small trailer with them, but are not allowed transporters, outside crews, or many other luxuries!
Teams will begin at Bradenton Motorsports Park on February 7, before moving on to Orlando Speedworld on February 8, Gainesville Raceway on February 9, South Georgia Motorsports Park on February 10, and finally back to Bradenton on February 11.
Incredibly quick street cars will be racing including Hot Rod Drag Week winner Dave Schroeder’s six-second nitrous Corvette and Tom Bailey’s world-record holding five-second Camaro. There will also be a host of fan favorites competing including Cleetus McFarland, Vice Grip Garage, PFI Speed, BoistedBoiz and Alex Taylor. Spectators tickets are available at the gate.
The Summit Racing Equipment Sick Week Cruise-In will see over 300 Sick Week competitors drive into the grounds of the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing throughout Thursday afternoon and evening, from 4pm to 9pm. Those racers will have already driven over 600 miles on the roads of Florida and Georgia throughout the week. Food trucks and a Nitro Margarita Mixer will also be on-hand, making the Summit Racing Equipment Sick Week Cruise-In an event not to be missed.
Sick Week promoter and racer Tom Bailey is the driver of the world’s quickest street car, the Sick Seconds 2.0 Camaro. His street legal, five-second quarter-mile will be just one of the many vehicles rolling into the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing.
“Checkpoints are part of the soul of drag-and-drive, and to have a checkpoint at somewhere as special as the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing is going to be next level,” he said. “We’ll have six-second street cars, hot rods, classics, imports and just about everything on four wheels stopping by the museum throughout the evening. This is basically going to be a rolling car show as competitors drive in and out. Our thanks go to Summit Racing Equipment for making all of this possible.
“We’d love to have as many people as possible supporting the event all week long, coming out to the track to see the extraordinary performances of these street cars and then visiting us at checkpoints like the Sick Week Cruise-In presented by Summit Racing Equipment.”
Entrants to Sick Week, as well as Sick Ward participants, will receive free entry to the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing thanks to Summit Racing Equipment.
