Stefan Gustafsson Ready to Send New Unlimited Class Camaro Build to US for Final Prep – Plans Sick Week 2025 Debut

The last time we reported on Stefan Gustafsson this year, the storied ‘Bitter Tears’ 1989 Chevrolet Corvette had unfortunately seen its final ride under Gustafsson’s care.

The Corvette, which captured the top spot in Unlimited two out of three times at Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, was getting retired in favor of a new ride for 2025 and beyond.

The new car, a 1970 carbon fiber-bodied Camaro, will shave some weight from Gustafsson’s retired Corvette, as well as be a good bit safer. The Corvette returned to Sweden on May 14th, and less than three months later, the Corvette has been stripped of all the driveline and accessories for the Camaro, and the transfer was complete.

“It’s ready to ship to the US for 2025,” said Gustafsson. The Camaro, which got the name ‘Bitter Sweet Camaro’, received the single turbo big block Chevrolet engine from the Corvette, which currently holds the drag-and-drive record for a single turbocharger.

Behind it is a Turbo 400 automatic, and a Holley Dominator EFI system controls it all, including all the boost from the big Forced Induction Solutions (FIS) turbo. Dual parachutes and a full set of TBM Brakes will slow it from the 200 mph passes.

The Camaro got a new shade of sinister black, and now that Gustafsson has done all he can, the Camaro’s next destination is North Carolina and Customs by Bigun, where fellow drag-and-drive class winner Eric Yost will put his sides to use for the car’s hot side and cold side for the turbo, as well as turbo mounts, radiator and some small welding tasks.

The goal for the new car is to debut at Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive in 2025, and continue the winning ways of the Corvette, although a bit quicker and faster than before.
