Sick Week Recap: How Brett LaSala Moved the Bar in Drag Radials on a Drag-and-Drive

Brett LaSala had done almost everything for a street car. Clicked off a 6-second pass at over 200 mph, run near the top with other street cars, and been competitive at events like TX2K, FL2K and ModNationals with his first “Snot Rocket” Mustang, a Margarita Green Ford Mustang.

LaSala decided to up the ante, as he knew the street car game was continuing to get quicker. 2022 found him purchasing the record-setting rolling chassis of stick shift racer Joel Steele, stuffing it with a Fast Forward Race Engines-built Coyote powerplant, and a pair of Precision turbochargers.

Once the 2012 Mustang chassis was sorted around the new driveline, the new ride clicked off 6.5-second elapsed times and was competitive at FL2K and World Cup.

The new step was entering the 2023 Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive event. On day one at Orlando “Sick” World Dragway, LaSala posted the quickest pass ever for a drag-and-drive car on a drag radial: 6.52!! How did LaSala do the rest of the week?
