Sick 66 – Combining an Epic Drive on Route 66, With Dozens of Checkpoints and Six Race Track Visits – Registration Opens March 2nd!

It started with the thought of a drag-and-drive that is truly unique; only held once, and if you miss out, it could potentially stir even a drag-and-drive rookie to action.

Death Week in October of 2023 was Tom Bailey’s result of doing something different, and what resulted was a close-knit group doing a 2,000-mile road trip.

It was epic, and the feedback was overwhelming; what could Tom do next? The answer is Sick 66: an eight day drag-and-drive across multiple states, six different drag strips, and a ton of cool checkpoints!

Route 66 has become a highway that many travel and automotive enthusiasts are familiar with, even if just for its significance to United States history. One of the original highways to be used in the US Numbered Highway System, it was established on November 11th, 1926 with road signs in place the following year.

Route 66 runs from Chicago, Illinois, through the states of Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona before finally ending in California, specifically Los Angeles County, and covers a total of 2,448 miles.

It has been called the ultimate ‘Mother Road’ and we’re using it to host what could be the ultimate drag-and-drive / road trip! In a nod to the first drag-and-drive held in 2005, it will start and end at different race tracks, and it all starts October 10th at Ozark Raceway Park in Missouri.

Eight days later, we will wrap it up at Albuquerque Dragway in New Mexico on October 18th, where we will also see how many of the participants, as well as the select number of Sick Ward enthusiasts, have survived!

Along the way, we will also visit four more tracks: Mokan Dragway in Missouri, Tulsa Raceway Park in Oklahoma, Amarillo Dragway in Texas, and Alien City Raceway in New Mexico.

PLUS, over 50 checkpoints will be part of the drive, with cool stuff like abandoned gas stations, cool attractions, iconic Route 66 sights, and more!

As we mentioned with Death Week in 2023, this will be a one-time only event, and will not be repeated.
