NHRA Top Fuel Dragster Driver Clay Millican Grudge Races Drag-and-Drive Dodge Pick-Up Truck, Posts New Personal Best Run!
As we reported last month, National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Top Fuel driver Clay Millican made his first drag strip runs in his drag-and-drive build ‘Dentley’, a 2004 Dodge pick-up that was completed in 2022, but Clay hadn’t made a pass in until recently.
And although some think a two ton plus pick-up truck may not hold a candle to a three-second, 330 mph Top Fuel Dragster, Clay proved us wrong by wheeling Dentley again recently.

Clay made the trip from his home base of Tennessee to Mississippi and Holly Springs Motorsports, where a big rim race was being held.
Wanting to get some more time on Dentley to find some better performance from the twin-turbo 426 cubic inch Gen 3 HEMI-powered ride, the event organizer told Clay to bring the truck out.
If you’ve never heard about big rim racing, most events base rules around a minimum 24 to 26-inch minimum diameter wheel. And despite the lack of sidewall (and sometimes traction) compared to traditional 15 to 17-inch diameter set-ups, there are several rides that have gotten deep into single-digit territory.
Clay got to make a test pass in Dentley, and right off the trailer the truck delivered a new personal best pass of 6.49 at 109.81 mph with a 1.52 60 foot time. This is nearly a two-tenths of-a-second improvement over his previous best 6.68 at 108 mph pass on the truck’s initial outing at Jackson Dragway.
That led to a grudge race with a turbocharged Camaro, and Clay turned up the truck to give himself a chance against ‘Baby Girl Florida’, wife of ‘Donkmaster’ who has a very quick turbocharged Impala.
