Mikael Borggren Acquires a Third-Gen Camaro – Will Return to No-Prep and Radial Racing, as Well as a Return to Drag-and-Drive
One of the most unique rides to grace the drag-and-drive scene, and later, the small tire and no-prep game, Mikael Borggren and his Volvo station wagon has made their mark.
Unfortunately, the storied Volvo was destroyed during a no-prep event in October, leaving many to question how, and if, Borggren would make a comeback.

Just a week before the calendar turned 2025, Borggren picked up his replacement ride, a third-generation Chevrolet Camaro in New York. It didn’t take long before changes were made to the rolling chassis.
“After looking at it a bit, and trying to figure out what needed to change to make it work, I left John Quick unsupervised for a minute,” said Borggren. “He got busy with the cutting wheel. Ended up with a big pile of tubing scrap.”
The Camaro got a decent number of bars cut out of the floor and front section, with Quick adding a bunch of additional bars to allow Borggren to remain safe while bringing the Camaro up to spec. The car should be a good bit lighter than the Volvo as well.
For driveline, Borggren will start with his proven ACE Racing Engines LS single turbo powerplant from the Volvo. The Precision Turbo & Engine unit sustained a little damage during the crash, but Precision was able to get it fixed and back to Borggren. “Hopefully there will be some room for updates to that later, but for now it’s all about finishing the chassis and the rest,” said Borggren.
Once the Camaro is finished, Borggren will return to both no-prep and small tire heads-up racing, and has hinted he could make a return to drag-and-drive competition as well. “I’m going to start sorting it out both on a no-prep and a radial first,” said Borggren. “Then I might come for a guitar on a small tire.”
