Jordan Boudreaux Takes Aim at 7-Seconds for Sick Week, With Roll Cage Upgrades and Possible Engine Changes

It’s been a common sight at Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, and Jordan Boudreaux’s Mustang has also made its mark in the event standings.

The turbocharged LS-swapped ride has earned a spot in the top three standings in the 275 Street Race class at the end of each Sick Week, but 2025 will bring a change for the Louisiana-based ride.

The 2002 Ford Mustang has shown the ability to consistently be a player in drag-and-drive, especially the 8.50-second limited class of 275 Street Race. When we first saw the Mustang on the 2022 edition of Sick Week, Jordan was completing the week with an 8.56 average to finish third in the 275 Street Race in 2022, behind RC Flint and event champ William Lujan.

One year later, Jordan’s average had improved to an 8.54360 at the end of a week of work, which moved him up a spot to second place. The bad news about second place for Jordan was falling short of an orange helmet by .0008 of-a-second to William Lujan!

This year, Jordan improved his average yet again, tallying an 8.53920 average for third behind the 8.512 of fellow Mustang-owner Randy Seward. At one point, Jordan said he wanted to make one more try at a 275 Street Race class win, but he spilled the beans on upgrades for the 2025 edition of Sick Week.

Another Mustang owner, Matt Moore, recently introduced several new ‘Core’ roll cage kits through his business Moore Race Chassis, including a SFI 25.5 7.50-second legal kit for 1994-2004 Mustangs. “Unlike our standard 25.5 kits, which can be upgraded to 25.3 with minimal additional components like a roof diagonal and gussets, the ‘Core’ kits use the minimum tubing required for certification,” according to Moore Race Chassis.

“Additionally, they are mounted on floor plates instead of a full floor structure, significantly reducing installation time and cost. This kit will still need some notching of the floor. But removal of the floor is not required.”

The fully notched, ready-to-weld kit gives Jordan and co-pilot Dylan Peacock the change to turn the power knobs up a bit for 2025. “Myself and Dylan have our sights set on 7-second averages in the Super Street category for Sick Week in 2025,” said Jordan. “Lots left to do, but we are fired up to go racing.”

The cage might not be the only upgrade the ‘New Edge’ Mustang gets. “Whether or not we (achieve a 7-second average) with the current stock block and head combo, or with an upgraded engine combo, remains to be seen,” Jordan said. “Small goals this year: 7-second average.”

The engine change could be coming from a fellow 7-second Sick Week competitor, but Jordan is remaining tight-lipped on further details. Can Jordan and Dylan complete their fourth-straight Sick Week in 2025?
