Fall Edition of Southeast Street-N-Yeet Gets Underway Today at Shadyside Dragway
Nearly seven months after the spring version of Southeast Street-N-Yeet wrapped up at Shadyside Dragway, the Carolina-based drag-and-drive returns to Shadyside to kick start the fall edition of Southeast Street-N-Yeet Presented by Motion Raceworks.
Some participants were already on the grounds at Shadyside Dragway in Shelby, North Carolina for check-in, tech inspection and some testing took place.

The event gets officially started at Shadyside Dragway today, as check-in and tech inspection will lead to a drivers meeting at 10:45 a.m. before the track goes hot for day one of competition at 11 a.m.
The second day, Friday November 10th, will find competitors rolling into the South Carolina Motorplex in Neeses, South Carolina for the morning / early afternoon session, then back on the road to Aiken, South Carolina and the “House of Hook”, Carolina Dragway for the second half of the two-track double-up.
Saturday, day number three, steers the tour to Hartsville, South Carolina to visit Darlington Dragway, and then everything concludes at the starting point on Sunday for day four, back at Shadyside Dragway.
The five classes Southeast Street-N-Yeet hosted in the spring: Unlimited Yeet (no rules), Limited Yeet (275 max tire, small block with power adders, big block naturally-aspirated only), Yeet Stick (clutch assisted manual transmission – except Lenco, 29.5” x 10.5W” slick or 315 radial), Tiny Tire (26” x 8.5” width or 235 tire), and Dial Your Own Yeet (consistency based on average and time slips turned in), all return for the fall, with a new sixth class, Daily Driver, rounding out the offerings.
The quickest class, Unlimited Yeet, may crown the third different winner in as many events. Shawn Lewis and his 1963 Chevrolet Nova won the initial event in 2022 with a 4.92 eighth-mile average, and Mark Mannor would take the cake at the 2023 spring event with a 5.49 average.
Both drivers and cars are on property, and they should be joined by a stellar field of entrants. At the top of that list is Bryant Goldstone, whose 1973 Javelin AMC is no stranger to winning and should be a strong low 4-second competitor. The entrant list also includes the twin-turbo Mustang of Ryan Hargett, Phil Tobin’s 1993 Chevy Corvette, and Alan Whitaker’s ’72 Monte Carlo.
With former champion Kendall Collins not on the entry list for Limited Yeet, the favorite role from a field of over 30 drivers would likely fall to Kyle Bemount. However, the former Hot Rod Drag Week and Sick Shootout winner just went through a mad thrash to fix his transmission, so a bit of a question mark hangs over the turbocharged Pontiac Trans Am for today.
Rumor mill is former champ Steven Salvati’s Mustang has been spotted in route to Shadyside, as is the Coyote-swapped Mustang of Jaeson Hager, and the familiar Chevy of Scott Brown as well.
The 2023 spring winner of Yeet Stick, Michael Strausser, plans to return to complete the 2023 sweep of the class that requires a third pedal to compete. But over a dozen rides stand at the ready to dethrone the 2004 Mustang of Strausser, including 2022 Yeet Stick champion Taylor Hedrick with his 2-valve New Edge Mustang.
The Tiny Tire class is always a guessing game of who will lead the charge, as the 26-inch-tall x 8.5-inch-wide mandated tire makes for an interesting playing field. Anthony Harville put his 1983 Ford LTD at the front of the spring field to become the first champion of the class, and Harville is on the list to return and defend his title.
Likely to prove the toughest competition for the title would be Travis Martin and Aaron Shaffer, with the latter making his first appearance on the small tires. Martin brings a healthy dose of small tire and no-prep experience to the game, so it could be an interesting battle.
Another new class for the spring edition of Southeast Street-N-Yeet is Dial-Your-Own, and a cutthroat battle materialized when the top nine competitors were all less than one hundredth of-a-second off their dial-ins.
Bobby Admire, Ryan Morris and Frank Wanicka would be the top three from the spring event, and the fall attendee list includes Admire and Morris amongst nearly 40 competitors in the class. How will things shake out this time?
The newest class to join the Southeast Street-N-Yeet roster is the Daily Driver category. Rules require a factory-type overdrive transmission, functioning wipers, full exhaust to within eighteen inches of the rear end, a radio, and no methanol for a fuel choice.
It will be interesting to see who will become the first winner, and among the notables include spring Southeast Street-N-Yeet top ten Dial-Your-Own runner Jennifer Rudasill in her Pontiac Firebird, as well as the potent Cadillac of Felicia Smith.
