Drag-and-Drive Veteran Clark Rosenstengel Blasts to a Record 263.466 MPH in Standing Mile Event
For a guy that has already attended over twenty drag-and-drive events, Clark Rosenstengel continues to forge ahead, find new goals and chase new dreams.
Although he has competed in a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro and a 1988 Ford Mustang (which he listed for sale earlier this year), Clark is known primarily for his 2010 model Camaro. And that car recently checked off some more accomplishments, and not just on the drag-and-drive side of things.

The Camaro participated on last year’s Hot Rod Drag Week, as Clark was joined by his daughter as he participated in the Modified class. The duo completed the week with a 7.89 average for third in the class, but more importantly, earning Clark a coveted spot in the 200 mph club, thanks to his 7.29 at 203 mph blast on day one.
“We went with two goals,” Clark said. “One was to just finish, because stupid things have taken us out the last two times, but this time we did it. I also wanted to get into another 200 mph club, and by running over 200 on Monday and by backing it up again on Tuesday, I made it.”
Unknown to some, Clark has also exercised the Camaro in land speed standing mile activities as well. The Camaro has done well in its past standing mile work, capturing the ‘world’s quickest fifth-generation Camaro with a 232 mph blast in 2019, then hitting 240 mph in 2021 and winning the Street Car Shootout despite the engine only being on seven cylinders.
This past weekend, Clark ventured to the East Coast Timing Association (ECTA) Spring Fling event in Blytheville, Arkansas. Steve would be competing in the Modern Street Pro class, designed for 2009 and newer vehicles with street-legal requirements such as: functional windows, horn, working lights and turn signals, alternator, radiator, (power steering and power brakes if installed must be operable), driver and passenger seats, and a full street legal interior minus rear seat.
Clark put the power from the Steve Morris Engine’s twin-turbocharged SMX to good use, clocking a 217.918 mph result at the half-mile mark, 247.525 mph at three-quarters of-a-mile, and a whopping 263.466 mph at the one-mile standard! The 263.466 mph result beat the record previously held by Kelly Bise for twelve years; a 263.3 mph blast!
“Amy and I were looking at all of the event decals on the car this weekend,” said Clark in reflection. “It's kind of crazy all of the places we have gone and all of the people we have met along the way. We have had quite the ride!”
