Carolina Drag Cruise, the Fifth Drag-And-Drive Event of the 2023 Season, Hits the Track Thursday May 11th
As the country eases towards summer time, the number of drag-and-drive events that will take place increases. The fifth event of the 2023 drag-and-drive season, Carolina Drag Cruise, starts tonight and runs through Sunday May 14th.
Participants can show up for tech inspection from 5 pm – 10 pm tonight in Spartanburg, South Carolina before racing action starts on Thursday May 11th at Greer Dragway in Greer, South Carolina.
Following racing action on Thursday night at Greer Dragway from 6 pm until 10 pm, the participants will move to Union County Dragway in Union, South Carolina for Friday night racing from 6 pm to 11 pm. Saturday, May 13th is the cruise day, giving participants a chance to up to the Hendersonville area for about a 150 mile drive and enjoy the mountain area. The final day, Sunday May 14th will bring the tour to North Carolina and Shadyside Dragway in Shelby to complete the event.

The Carolina Drag Cruise features six classes:
- Unlimited Street (no rules other than DOT requirements)
- Limited Street (275 radial or 28-inch x 10.5-inch non-W tire or smaller, to tube chassis or back half cars allowed, all steel panels – except hood and bumpers)
- Modern Muscle (follow the IHRA 2022 rulebook on “street legal” vehicles, and can’t run faster than a 6.00 elapsed time)
- Stick Shift (vehicles with h-pattern shifters only)
- True Street (must use factory-style panels, stock-style suspension and full interior, bolt-on upgrades are allowed, vehicle must run a DOT-approved tire, and can’t run faster than a 7.35 elapsed time)
- Electric Vehicle classes (stock and power-adder)
There will also be “Fastest Average Reaction Time” and “Spirit of Drag Cruise” awards presented.
