Carolina Drag Cruise launches with record field expected
When the first competitors in the Carolina Drag Cruise hit the track, they will be part of a field that is four times larger than when the event took place last year.
Sixty-four entrants are expected in total for Carolina Drag Cruise, which takes place in - you guessed it - South Carolina and North Carolina. It is an eighth-mile event that visits Greer Dragway, Ware Shoals, Union County and Shadyside.
Event promoter Michael Lone describes Carolina Drag Cruise as a lighter version of drag-and-drive. Competitors must record a time at each track, and then take their time slip to a hand-in point that is generally 20 to 30 miles from the track. Teams must complete the drive there and back, but they have the option to trailer their cars between tracks if they wish.
Some early tech took place last night in Spartanburg, SC, as racers prepared for four days of hot weather in the southeast. Stay tuned to sickthemagazine.com and the Tom Bailey YouTube channel for more from Carolina Drag Cruise.
