Will Blasphemi Complete Hot Rod Drag Week? Mike Finnegan and Tony Angelo’s Drag Week 2024 – The Movie Part 2
In a racing event, rarely does everything go 100-precent smoothly. Ask a veteran of the drag-and-drive world, and they will likely tell you the chances of experiencing no hiccups along the way of an event are small.
Hundreds of things can happen, and most of the time, it’s not during racing, and in part two of the Drag Week 2024 Movie on the popular YouTube channel Finnegan’s Garage, Mike Finnegan and Tony Angelo attempt to overcome the pitfalls and complete Hot Rod Drag Week.

As a refresher, Finnegan and Angelo have teamed up for Hot Rod Drag Week three times with ‘Blasphemi’, Finnegan’s 1955 Chevy gasser with a supercharged HEMI powerplant and manual transmission in the tunnel.
In 2019, the duo scored a coveted win in the A/Gas class, as well as establishing a new class record of an 8.906 average. Their week was documented in an extended edition of the recently canceled MotorTrend show Roadkill.
After not attending the event in 2020 and 2021, Finnegan and Angelo returned to Drag Week in 2022. But their attempts to once again claim victory were dashed by major engine issues on day one, and they dropped out of competition.
After a dyno session didn’t return the wanted results, Finnegan opted out of the 2023 edition of Hot Rod Drag Week.
This year, Finnegan and Angelo returned to Drag Week, with their exploits recorded for a two-part movie similar to their 2022 efforts. In part one, Finnegan and Angelo manage to conquer day one at National Trail Raceway in Ohio, clocking an 8.70 pass to lead the A/Gas class. Wayne Baker’s ’63 Chevy Nova sat second with an 8.82, and Jay Grabiak in third courtesy of a 9.82 from his 1955 Chevy.
Day two brought Hot Rod Drag Week to Indianapolis, Indiana and Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park, where Baker and Finnegan would stage up side-by-side for what could’ve been a solid 8-second pass for both.
Instead, Finnegan went on the bumper, Baker shot to an 8.79 pass, while Finnegan coasted down track. Finnegan returned for a 9.37 at only 112 mph on his second run, and couldn’t make it back in time for a third run.
That is where part one ended, and the recently-released part two began. In this part, Finnegan and Angelo get to work to fix the damage to Blasphemi from the wheelie, troubleshoot numerous issues over the next three days, and attempt to salvage their week. Did they make it happen?
