Proving You Can LS-Swap Anything, This Boxy Volvo Wagon Is Getting Supercharged For Nines!

Normally a Volvo station wagon wouldn’t be thought of as a quick car, but Camron Thorpe has transformed this 1992 model into a mid 10-second ride.

Camron got his introduction to drag-and-drive events by watching Hot Rod Drag Week, and decided to join in the fun at Rocky Mountain Race Week starting in 2015.

After doing the event as both a passenger and a driver for five years, Camron completed the work on the Volvo wagon so his could participate on the next level.

Taking out the stock driveline, Camron did an LS-swap and overdrive transmission, along with a ladder bar rear suspension and a full roll cage.

Since the debut of the station wagon in 2020, Camron has completed eight drag-and-drive events, including Sick Week, Rocky Mountain Race Week, Race Week and Hot Rod Drag Week in 2022.

“I can't say enough about all the awesome people I've met on the way,” said Camron, who mentioned he’s put on over twenty-five-thousand miles on the wagon since its debut.

To up his game for the 2023 Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, Camron has added a new 2650-based blower and plans to aim for the Pro Dial Your Own (DYO) class.

“I hope to run 9-second times, and have a great time with all my friends and make more new ones,” said Camron, who plans to take his dad, mom and friend John along for the ride. “Pulling the front tires off the ground would be sick too!”
