Brian Havlik Employs Weight Loss Program for 2023 Drag-and-Drive Season and Beyond

Wheeling his 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air to multiple 8-second passes and a fourth place finish in the Naturally Aspirated class at the inaugural Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, some might think Brian Havlik would be happy with the performance.

He even clocked a new personal best of 8.76 at 155 mph with the classic shoebox Chevy, but Brian wants more for the 2023 season.

So with about a month remaining before the 2023 edition of Sick Week hits Orlando Speed World Dragway, Brian has been hard at work with his “Sick Week Jenny Craig Diet” for the ’55 Chevy.

Brian planned to shave around 200 pounds of weight by swapping in lighter seats, battery, cables, driveshaft and fasteners. But the tally as of January 9th is an impressive 366 pounds, and it was done without swapping any steel body panels for fiberglass ones.

As good as Brian’s weight loss program has started in 2023, he has an even bigger weight loss program in play for 2024, as he’s also got a new 1955 Chevrolet in the works.

This one will employ a healthy dose of fiberglass, carbon fiber, aluminum and titanium. “The complete opposite of my OG car,” said Brian of the new ’55 Chevy. “We plan on building it this year and debuting it in 2024 at one of the Sick Week events.”
