What is Sick Week? This Is How To Best Watch!

Sick Week, presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, is a new drag-and-drive event which takes in tracks around Florida and Georgia.

We have a lot of newcomers who will be racing, Sick Warding and spectating, so we wanted to give you a basic plan on how you can best watch the event.

Drag-and-drive is different to most other drag racing events. The goal for most competitors is to have the best average ET across the week. That means with one good time slip at each track, they can begin the drive to the next.

Spectators should aim to be at the track early, as racing begins from 9am (except for the final day which is 2pm) and the quickest cars will be out first. If you have a favorite that you want to see, getting there early is the key. ‘One and done’ is a common phrase in drag-and-drive, and means a competitor has made one good run and is deciding to begin their drive.

At Sick Week, the entrants will be divided into classes based on the safety specs. Cars teched quicker than 8.50 will run first, followed by 8.50-10.00 teched cars, followed by greater than 10.00. The day ends with an ‘all-run session’. Racing concludes at 3pm (except for the final day which is 8pm).

If you really want to feel the soul of drag-and-drive, we recommend leaving the track a little early and following the route to the next track for a while. The routes are available on our event information page. This will let you see these street cars doing street car things and it can be a real experience!

If you can’t be at the track, the next best thing is the Motion Raceworks live stream. We will be broadcasting the racing from the track each day right here at sickthemagazine.com, so make sure you come back and visit once racing begins.

And of course, be sure to subscribe to our awesome magazine to read all about the event once it has happened.
