TX2K 2023 Event Gets Underway at Houston Raceway

The popular TX2K event, an event that combines roll racing and drag racing together in a five-day event, got underway Wednesday at Houston Raceway in Baytown, Texas.

The 2023 edition of the event will mark the final one at Houston Raceway, as the track is set to close and become an industrial park.

The roll racing segment ran a full day of qualifying on Wednesday, setting up four separate fields for eliminations. The fastest eight speeds go into the Elite 8 class, then the next fastest 16 speeds get seeded into the Unlimited class.

The third field of 16 entries is the Super Sport class, and the final 16-car class is the Sport class. The Unlimited, Super Sport and Sport classes get a 5 mph break out rule (meaning no car can go more than 5 mph faster than the number one qualifier).

The Elite 8 field is led by Billy Sitaras wheeling his 2013 GT-R to a 221.71 mph blast for the top spot; KC Howeth and Aaron Miller clocked 215 mph runs for the second and third spots.

Unlimited has Oscar Morales in the top spot at 203.43 mph, Fabricio Cordob is second at 202.52 mph and third is Ryan Lewakowski at 201.28 mph.

The Super Sport class has Tony Turan at number one courtesy of a 195.36 mph blast, with Brandon Carter second at 194.60 mph and Jan Buhler third at 194.55 mph.

The final class, the Sport class, has Ryan Carruthers on top at 188.52 mph, and the field is anchored by Ronald Rodriguez on a 179.83 mph pass.

Round one of eliminations for the Unlimited, Super Sport and Sport classes was scheduled for Wednesday night, but no results were available at press time.

Roll racing eliminations are scheduled to be completed today, with the drag racing classes getting their first crack at the track in the afternoon.

The TX2K event is available on Flo Racing’s live stream, continuing at 10:15 a.m. EST today on www.Floracing.com.
