TRC King Of The Open Road Event This Weekend Will Wrap Up the 2023 Drag-and-Drive Season

Nearly nine months after getting the 2023 drag-and-drive season underway at Sick Week presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, it will come to a close with That Racing Channel’s King Of The Open Road (KOTOR) event at Texas Motorplex on November 18th and 19th.

After debuting earlier this year at Thunder Valley Raceway in Oklahoma, KOTOR visited Tucson Dragway in Tucson, Arizona in September, and all events use a similar 2-day format.

Friday will incorporate an afternoon cruise from Texas Motorplex, where participants meet up to receive route instructions, and then embark on a 200-mile drive. The final destination is the Silver Horse Saloon, where each participant will have the chance to collect a keepsake token that would be turned in to participate in racing and show activities at Texas Motorplex on Saturday.

After enjoying an evening in historic Granbury, participants will return to the track to get into one of the following drag race classes: Streetcar Shootout, Hard Tire, Stick Shift, Old School, High Roller, Heavy Weight, King of the Open Road (Outlaw), Motorcycle, Junior Street, 9.0 Index, 10.0 Index, 11.0 Index, 12.0 Index, 13.0 Index and 14.0 Index.

The event will also feature three classes of roll racing: Class 1 - (King of the open road), Class 2 - (Street) and Class 3 - (Stock), where cars will qualify based on mph to keep similar powered cars together to ensure racing is fair and competitive.

There will also be a car show, with Top 10 favorites supplemented by several specific category single awards, like Best Stance, Best Old School, Best Import, Best Truck, and several more.

More information can be found on their event listing here.
