Street Racing Channel Reveal Drag-and-Drive Plans With Stunning New Chevy Bel Air

Could the drag-and-drive world be welcoming a team notorious for their efforts in the world of street racing and no-prep? The Hoskinsons might be on the way.

Following in the footsteps of his father Bill, ‘The Kid’ Billy has participated in small tire racing around his home state of Ohio and the nation. His exploits are well known through Street Racing Channel on YouTube.

With the racing landscape changing and getting quicker, Billy has looked into adding another car to his arsenal for a few years. The first would be a third-generation Nova, followed more recently by a ’67 Camaro. But that is not the only change Billy is contemplating, and a more recent purchase could bring the Hoskinsons into the drag-and-drive world.

Following the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show at the beginning of the month, Billy made a trip from Ohio to Pennsylvania to purchase a ’55 Chevrolet Bel Air. Powered by a big block and backed with a Turbo 400 transmission, the Bel Air sports a certified 8.50-spec roll cage.

“I’ve been wanting to compete in Sick Week, Hot Rod Drag Week, Rocky Mountain Race Week,” said Billy. “All the weeks! And this is a perfect car for that.”

As far as details go about their intentions for the ’55 Chevy…“I think we should be secretive,” Billy admitted. “We tell everyone what’s in everything.”

Billy’s father, Bill, mentioned in his latest video that he and Billy had been talking about doing a drag-and-drive for about a year. And although Billy has purchased and sold a few cars in that time frame, he seems excited about this recent purchase.

“This will be a fun car to drag-and-drive. I’m really excited to get into that world and try it out.”
