The BoostedBoiz Reveal a New Build, And Plans for a Two Car Team on Sick Week
Nearly eight years after they started uploading videos to YouTube, BoostedBoiz has a faithful following on social media, as well as an interesting arsenal of builds.
Responsible for a lot of quick and unique cars, including a 7-second Honda-powered MR2 and a 1000-plus horsepower Acura NSX, Kyle Wade and Wyatt Stengel are getting a pair of new rides ready for this year’s Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive.
Kyle has participated in both the 2022 and 2023 edition of Sick Week, starting with a 1998 Civic hatch with mid 9-second performances at each stop in 2022, with a best of 9.31 at 152 mph on the final day. Kyle traded the hatch for a cool blue 1990 Honda Civic last year, but came up one day short of finishing the week.

For 2024, Kyle will be piloting the Honda van known as the ‘Plaidessey’, a combination of a Honda Odyssey and a Tesla Plaid. “The plan was to do the van and Plaid combined from the beginning,” said Kyle. “I bought the Odyssey before I ever bought the Tesla.”
Running the Tesla in a variety of configurations, including a stripped-down version with an exo-cage, Kyle recently married the Honda van and the Telsa chassis, and it’s proven to be a mid 9-second contender.
This is not the first Honda Odyssey van Kyle has created, as he also has the ‘Rowdyssey’ van, sporting a turbocharged Honda 4-cylinder under the hood. “It’s funny that we now have two vans that both have run mid 9-second times in two completely different fashions,” said Kyle.

For Wyatt, 2024 will be his second Sick Week behind the wheel. He participated on his first Sick Week in 2023 with a 1970 GMC diesel 4x4 pick-up. Making a best pass of 10.01 during the week, the truck completed its first drag-and-drive with a 10.63 average.
Although Wyatt still owns the diesel pick-up, he will take on a new project for this year’s Sick Week, a 1973 Toyota Corolla.
“Wyatt picked it up to be a fun streetable car that wasn’t as serious as the truck,” said Kyle. The engine bay will house a 13B 2 rotor out of an RX-7, and will have a factory turbo RX-7 5-speed manual transmission behind it. The suspension and rear end will remain stock style Corolla for now.
“Our number one goal is to make it through the week,” said Kyle. “I’m focusing on trying to keep the ‘Plaidessey’ charged, while Wyatt is going to be tasked with making passes without stressing the driveline too much.
We don’t know what the rear will handle. We’re both trying to survive, since the cars are coming into their first drag-and-drive, especially Wyatt’s being a fresh build.”
“Our goals with the ‘Plaidessey’ are to go have fun with it, and Sick Week plays into that.” He does plan to incorporate as much of the Tesla into the van as possible going forward, including as many functions being workable from the Tesla’s touchscreen.
The BoostedBoiz will joined at Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive by several other drag-and-drive personalities, including PFI Speed, Steve Morris, Derek from Vice Grip Garage, Alex Taylor, SXS Blog, Kevin Smith of KSR, and over 300 more drag-and-drive competitors looking to enjoy a week in Florida.
Also, we’ll have a large group of people in the Sick Ward portion of Sick Week, literally a rolling car show!
