TBM Brakes Announced As Presenting Sponsor of Sick Summer 2023

Sick The Mag is proud to announce that TBM Brakes will be the presenting sponsor of Sick Summer 2023, a new drag-and-drive event taking place from June 4-9, 2023 across the midwest.

TBM Brakes is the new name in the world of brakes for everything from 260mph + Pro Mods to dirt-chucking Sprintcars. Found on the likes of Cleetus McFarland’s Mullet El Camino and Tom Bailey’s Sick Seconds 2.0 Camaro, TBM Brakes deliver great stopping power in a lightweight package.

TBM Brakes CEO Doug Cook said with the amount of new cars being built for drag-and-drive, it made sense to elevate TBM Brakes in the scene.

“What’s interesting about these events is that there is a huge amount of rookies involved,” he explained. “And I don’t mean just rookies to drag-and-drive. These are people who might have never been down a quarter-mile but they are building awesome street-and-strip cars and choosing events like Sick Summer to bring them to the track for the first time.”

Sick The Mag publisher Tom Bailey echoed Cook’s thoughts on the amount of machinery being built for this growing niche of drag racing.

“Before each event we have an expression of interest form, and it was crazy the amount of new builds or new engines people listed,” he said. “Drag-and-drive is huge for the aftermarket performance industry. No other drag racing series has been able to create such a wave among the thousands of people around the country who have real, driving street cars.”

The presenting sponsorship won’t be the only involvement for Cook, who is also the co-founder of Motion Raceworks. The Sick Summer route will roll right by Motion Raceworks’ Iowa facility, which will host an epic party.

Coming on board to present the live stream for Sick Summer Presented By TBM Brakes will be Gear Vendors Overdrive. Rick Johnson at Gear Vendors has been a long time supporter of drag-and-drive, and he will be making sure that the thousands of people at home who want to follow Sick Summer will be able to get an outstanding online view.

Just like Sick Week Presented By Gear Vendors Overdrive in Florida, Sick Summer Presented By TBM Brakes will aim to provide a premium event experience that will create memories for a lifetime.

“We start by having the best track prep so that racers can put down record runs,” Bailey said. “At Sick Week 2022 we saw the first ever drag-and-drive radial average in the sixes, in fact we saw two of them! All of that is thanks to VP Lance Choice and the wizards at Total Venue Concepts.

“We have sponsors like VP Racing Fuels, Mickey Thompson Tires and Motion Raceworks following along for the week. Their support means you can even upgrade your car as you go!

“And then we have the best check points. These aren’t just regular stops, they are all designed to be memorable with parties and experience that you and your co-pilots will remember forever.”

Among the plans for Sick Summer Presented By TBM Brakes are parties at Motion Raceworks (possibly two of them), a retro drive-in restaurant, and even a visit to the Field of Dreams.”

Racers interesting in competing at Sick Summer Presented by TBM Brakes have just a few days to register their interest for early entry access. We fully expect that all entries will be sold out at this stage, so registering your interest now is absolutely essential.
