Steve Niles Looking to Rocket Into Sick Summer With Storied Oldsmobile

If the appearance of a bright red muscle car doesn’t get your attention, perhaps the wheels-up launches of this Oldsmobile Cutlass will! Steve Niles has owned this 1972 Cutlass 442 for over thirty years, and will embark on his first drag-and-drive at Sick Summer Presented by TBM Brakes.

Steve’s Oldsmobile has always been a street and strip car, so he’s excited about Sick Summer. “It’s nice to have events that promote what I’ve always done; no trailer queen cars,” said Steve.

Keeping the Cutlass all Oldsmobile was important to Steve, and he employs a 455 cubic inch powerplant with Rocket Racing heads and no power adders. It’s backed it with a Turbo 400 3-speed transmission and a Gear Vendors Overdrive.

The beautiful body lines and paint on the Oldsmobile’s flanks were accomplished by Steve and his wife Lisa over their 30-plus years of owning the car.

Steve is looking forward to Sick Summer for several reasons, and the opening day will have a special meaning for Steve and Lisa besides being the first day of competition. “June 4th is our 35th anniversary,” he said.

What better way to spend an anniversary than with your wife as co-pilot on Sick Summer?
