Sick Street Car Challenge Class Amps Up – Sick Week Top Three Finishers Devin Vanderhoof and Graham Hayes Enter Their Rides for Sick at The Rock!

They started their seasons with a bang at Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive, when Graham Hayes and the team of Devin Vanderhoof and Josh Davis not only won their classes, but finished in the top three overall.

Both of these powerful rides now set their sights on Rockingham Dragway, and the Sick At The Rock event Presented by Motion Raceworks.

The newest class to the Sick At The Rock Presented by Motion Raceworks event is the Sick Street Car Challenge class - $32,000 in payouts are up for grabs!! This two-day drag and drive format class has categories that appeal to some of the quickest rides, but also consistency and reaction times too! 32 different categories have $1,000 to award in each, and we’ve come up with some good ones to give every competitor a shot at some money. It all takes place at Rockingham Dragway in North Carolina April 10th - 12th, 2025! For more details on Sick At The Rock, and the over $50K in payouts, CLICK HERE!

After previous campaigning his beautiful ’66 Chevrolet Nova on nitrous, Graham made the switch to twin-turbos as the power adder on his big block-urged ride. Matthew Smith at Performance Fab was credited with making the switch, and Graham bought noted tuner Eric Gold along for the ride on Sick Week.

The duo kept chipping away at the tune up, and after starting the week with a 6.88 at 214 mph pass at South Georgia Motorsports Park on day one, they returned four days later to crack off their best run of the week, a 6.49 at 225 mph. That gave Graham a 6.64 average, and the title to the Ultimate Iron class, and a Sick orange helmet.

But it also came with a bonus for the clean Chevrolet: a top three overall average, and that brought a coveted Gear Vendors Overdrive guitar.

Joining Graham for a solid Sick Week appearance was the team of Devin and Josh, along with the white convertible Ford Mustang known as ‘Big Ern.’ Already a multi-time drag and drive class winner, the revamped Mustang came into the event after some scrambling with transmission issues during the test days.

Josh wheeled the car to a 7.02 at just 137 mph on day one, but the Ford would clock in for 6-second work the rest of the week, producing a best run of 6.37 at 227 mph at the Gainesville Raceway stop on day four. A 6.57 average would earn Devin and Josh the Modified class title, and another Gear Vendors Overdrive guitar.

Both cars have seen action at multiple tracks since that first week of February, but the Sick At The Rock Presented by Motion Raceworks event, April 10th through the 12th, 2025 is the latest goal for both teams. “We’re looking forward to this new idea from Tom Bailey,” said Devin. “I enjoy the eighth-mile action, as it makes you work on the tune up right up front.”

Devin also mentioned the two-day format and multitude of categories payout as some great incentives for more people to come out and try their hand at a drag and drive event. “I am always busy, so I understand how hard it could be for some to get away for a whole week to do a drag and drive major event,” said Devin.

“I think the shorter two-day should make it easier for interested enthusiasts to come participate. All the options that pay our good money can also help someone to make the decision to come out and run at Rockingham for the chance to collect some money.”

Graham Hayes and the team of Devin Vanderhoof and Josh are coming to lay down some quick runs at Rockingham Dragway and claim their share of the $32,000 up for grabs in our Sick Street Car Challenge class. Will they be the quickest on property? Do you have a car that could compete for a share of the money?
