A Quarter-Mile Walk Down The Aisle - Sick Week Starts With a Wedding!

Sick Week 2024 Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive will play host to big moments for two couples, with both a wedding and a gender reveal set to start the week.

Houston McClain and Kate Folmar will kick off their second drag-and-drive event, and second Sick Week, by saying their ‘I dos’ just after the drivers meeting on Monday morning, and they’ve invited all Sick Week and Sick Ward participants to witness it.

“We never knew what the drag-and-drive community would mean to us,” said Kate when asked about that first experience at Sick Week 2023. Kate had just accepted Houston’s proposal at Gainesville Raceway a few months earlier, and they had flirted with the idea of getting married at the storied facility.

But once they experienced their first drag-and-drive event at Sick Week, they started having second thoughts.

“We met so many awesome people that share the passion for cars and racing that we do,” said Houston. “The more Kate and I discussed it, the more we wanted to kick off the 2024 Sick Week as husband and wife.”

This year’s Sick Week will hold at least another big memory for them, as the McClain Motorsports shop is an optional stop along the Sick Week route on day four from South Georgia Motorsports Park to Orlando ‘Sick’ World.

Houston and Kate won’t be the only ones celebrating a big life moment at Sick Week in Orlando. Kyle Cartwright will make the drive from Michigan to Florida with his 1983 Chevrolet Malibu station wagon that his six-year-old daughter calls ‘The Wagon.’

“I have completed in all the Sick Week events,” said Kyle. “They have all been just awesome; I’ve made tons of lifelong friends all over the country; even some from other countries.”

But this one will be a bit different for a big reason, as his wife Robin will join him again to be his co-pilot. But this year, she’ll be 5 months pregnant at the start of Sick Week.

And the couple decided what better way to find out whether they are having a boy or girl than on Sick Week. The burnout that will answer the question will happen at the conclusion of the test and tune session on tech and test day on Sunday, January 28th at Orlando ‘Sick’ World Dragway.
