Sick On The Green Gets a Double Dose of Lil’ Gangsta’s 5.30 Class – Two Chances to Win (One on Friday, One on Saturday) May 30th-31st, 2025
With the recently completed Sick At The Rock event, the first smaller 2-3 day event format for Sick The Magazine, we found a group of enthusiasts that enjoyed a different format held at Rockingham Dragway.
As we prepare for our second smaller event, Sick On The Green at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Kentucky on May 29th through the 31st, new classes have been added to the roster, and the Lil Gangsta’s 5.30 class will get a second helping with a separate Friday race!
The Lil’ Gangsta’s 5.30 class is one of the NINE racing classes to be featured at Sick The Mag’s second event - Sick On The Green - May 29th-31st at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Kentucky. Over $60,000 up for grabs, including $10K to win in the Lil’ Gangsta’s class on Saturday May 31st! It all takes place on the last week in May in Bowling Green, Kentucky! From the moment Tom Bailey set out to create the two new events, having a mix of established classes from the defunct National Muscle Car Association (NMCA) and National Mustang Racers Association (NMRA) series was important.
“I participated in several NMCA events over the years,” said Tom Bailey, creator of Sick The Magazine. “I knew some racers would be left without a place to race when news hit of the series ending last October, and we wanted to do something to help.”
In addition to offering a place for NMCA and NMRA-based classes, Tom also added some new offerings to the mix. A class debuted at the Motion Raceworks Sick At The Rock, Sick Street Car Challenge, takes the popular drag and drive format and makes it more attainable versus our traditional week-long events.
PLUS, Tom added the carrot of $32,000 in prize money across over two-dozen categories, with the ability to stack more than one category up for a possible bigger payout.
Tom also looked outside the NMCA and NMRA roster for possible inspiration, and Jimmy Dale came calling with the popular Lil’ Gangsta’s 5.30 No-Time class at the Performance and Racing Industry show. The no time slips / scoreboards off format class was announced to be part of our Sick On The Green event, with a $10,000 winner-take-all purse and FREE class entry for Saturday, May 31st!
But Tom and Jimmy Dale decided to spice things up some more, and now a second Lil’ Gangsta’s 5.30 No-Time class will be held on Friday, May 30th, with 100-percent of the buy-in going right back out as the purse!
Jimmy Dale took the win in the Lil’ Gangsta’s class at the recent World Series of Pro Mod event, beating familiar names like ‘Jackstand’ Jimmy Taal and ‘KSR’ Kevin Smith (pictured).
“Talking with Jimmy Dale fired me up,” said Tom. “So, we decided a second helping of the Lil’ Gangsta’s class would be just the ticket to add in to Friday’s qualifying day. With Sick The Magazine offering a free-entry $10,000 to win Saturday Lil’ Gangsta’s class, it will bring a lot of action and excitement to Beech Bend Raceway Park in Kentucky next month!”
The class blends a unique combination of small tire street-style ride with an index to help level the playing field and bring more racers to the table, and it has caught the racing world by storm. “I knew we needed to try something different, but I had no idea it would be this well received so quickly,” said Jimmy Dale. “As grudge and heads-up racing keeps getting quicker and more expensive, the Lil’ Gangsta’s class keeps the competition in check with the index, but we bring the excitement with the no scoreboard and no time slip deal.”
The class was originally designed to be contested in an ‘off-the-trailer’ format, and Sick At The Green will bring that format. “There will be no test runs for Lil’ Gangsta’s on Friday and Saturday elimination days,” said Tom. “We’re going straight into eliminations. However, if racers want to get their rides tuned up, the Thursday Test and Tune is available. We will run a lane specifically for Lil’ Gangsta’s competitors, with scoreboards off, but time slips available for each lane separately.”
