Sick BBQ Expands Lineup with Five New Spices – Just in Time for Fall Grilling Season!
Following a successful launch of the Sick BBQ & Spice with a pair of sauces and three dry rub spices, Sick Spice is expanding with five new spices that are now available!
The man behind the spices, Rich Pedraza, said the new spices are a direct result of customer feedback and his brainstorming. “I never stop experimenting and thinking about new ideas,” said Rich. “Plus, customers and fellow enthusiasts provide some great feedback. All of that led to the new spices in the line.”

The first of the new spices is “Every Other Day” which builds on the original “Everyday” spice, but the new offering adds a bit more heat to the mix (shown on the “heat level” section of the label). Both spices can be used on everything from your morning eggs to steak and burgers.
“Caribbean Zest” can trace its roots to Jamaican Jerk seasonings and a recommendation from a friend. “After a good friend recommended, I try a Jamaican Jerk paste, I combined it with some of the Sick ‘Tangy’ spice on some chicken wings,” said Rich. “The outcome made me want that earthy depth of flavor in one of the spice blends.”
This resulted in the spice that was intended for wings, but early testing has returned favorable feedback on turkey and short ribs as well.
“Sweet & Kickin’” is the combination of sweet and heat into a perfect spice blend. “Like others, I enjoy some heat every so often,” said Rich. “So, we stepped up a sweet rub that works great on pork products among other things, with a little extra heat.”
This spice was created for ribs and pork dishes, but as noted before, we openly encourage experimenting!
“Sharp & Spicy” is a mix of herbs and spices with the addition of peppers to kick up the flavor another notch. It was originally designed to kick chicken wing flavor to the next level, but would also work great on vegetables and other meats as well.
The final new spice in the lineup is “Citrus Zing.” A combination of the citrus and chili flavors, Rich took aim at one of his favorite dishes. “I like fajitas; we all like fajitas don’t we,” said Rich. “I went to the store looking for something a little different (on spice); I wanted a chili lime type seasoning to use. I couldn’t find any locally so yup, you guessed it, time to experiment.”
This spice brings a unique combination of flavor, but the heat range is on a lower level compared to the first four new flavors.
