Pueblo Motorsports Park 2024 Season Could Be Salvaged – Repairs to Track Surface to Start Next Week

Earlier this week, we reported on the possibility that Pueblo Motorsports Park (PMP) would likely delay the start of its 2024 drag racing season from the ‘front side’ due to areas of the track’s surface needing repairs.

However, it seems some possible good news has arrived sooner than expected, and although there is still some uncertainty, the 2024 drag racing season could still happen.

On Friday evening, April 26th, PMP put out a statement on their Facebook page with updates about surface repairs and a possible timeline for drag racing in 2024:

Pueblo Motorsports Park SURFACE UPDATE. DON’T GIVE UP YET….

First off, BIG thanks to everyone who has shared words of support, and who have been positive over the last few days. Your positive support drowned out any of the negative comments. We appreciate you all!

Yesterday, we had a meeting with the Director of Pueblo Parks and Recreation, City Engineers, and Larry Crispe from Bandimere Speedway, to look at the surface to determine if repairs could be made to the track that would allow us to race this year, and to do so safely.

During that meeting, everyone agreed that it is possible to make some repairs and maintain them over the 2024 season, so that we could still send cars down the track.

The plan is to work on those repairs next week, then see how a few cars do going down it. We will watch them closely and get feedback from the drivers. We should be able to let all of our racers and spectators know the outcome by Monday, May 6th. If things go how we hope they do, the 2024 schedule will commence from there.

The awesome thing about all of this is that Parks and Recreation is still going to release a Request For Proposal for the replacement of the surface! So, if these repairs do the job, which everyone at the meeting yesterday felt very strongly it will, that means we will be able to race this year and still possibly have a brand-new racing surface next season!

We apologize for the emotional roller coaster this put us all on the last few days, but please trust that all the management and staff of Pueblo Motorsports Park want is to make sure all of our racers have a safe track to race down.
