Paralympic Gold Medallist Matt Stutzman Sets Drag Racing World Record

Matthew Stutzman, a record holder and gold medalist in archery, jumped into the world of drag racing last year. But not just any car or truck would do, as Stutzman chose a first-generation supercharged Chevrolet Camaro to get his fill of speed on the drag strip.

In 2023, Stutzman guided the Camaro into the four-second range at Central Illinois Dragway, and he did it driving with his feet!

Born without arms, Stutzman uses his legs and feet for most activities, including archery.

A two-time competitor in the Paralympics in 2012 and 2016, Stutzman earned a silver medal in 2012. Stutzman also scored the gold at the 2022 World Para Archery Championships, held in Dubai. In 2024 he would take the gold medal at the Paris Paralympics.

While he still stays sharp in the archery field, Stutzman has turned a lot of attention to his drag racing efforts.

Recently, he made strides in earning his World Drag Racing Alliance (WDRA) license and certification, as well as piloting the Camaro into the four-second range on the eighth-mile standard.
