If One Ford F100 Burnout Truck is Good, Two at Sick Powerfest Has to Be Better?

In the third installment of burnouts vehicles from the Boosted Ride camp, we present a supercharged 1967 Ford F100 pick-up.

But doesn’t the team already have another pick-up? Yes, this is the team’s second one. And before you jump to the conclusion that they took the easy way to the third vehicle by copying the first one, hear me out.

Adam and Jason Kelley are brothers and partners on the Boosted Ride wagon, and after Adam’s initial success with the first pick-up, a 1967 Ford F100 nicknamed ‘Death Trap,’ Jason wanted a ride of his own.

So, the brothers got to work, finding a unique 1956 German station wagon to build. But once they dug into it, they realized it was going to take a lot more time, effort and parts than originally planned. “So that was when we started building the second Ford truck,” Adam said.

But another wall was about to halt the brothers’ progress. “We had a small shop fire that caused a lot of smoke damage to the shop,” said Adam. “Because of that we were out of commission from my shop for several months.”

This meant for the second time, Jason wasn’t seeing a burnout car in his immediate future. However, Plan C to get Jason a quick build done, they found a 1987 Camaro for five hundred dollars.

“What was a cheap car that a big block Chevy would fit in,” said Adam. “That is how the Camaro started, and hasn't been touched for the last two years, and has been running strong.”

So now the brothers are out enjoying burnout competitions together, but with a triple car trailer, Adam said something still felt like it was missing.

“With two vehicles to tow, we needed something to haul them so we ended up with a triple car trailer,” Adam said. “Well, if you have a triple car trailer, why not take three if you’re going to an event anyway?”

After weighing their options, Adam and Jason decided it was time to build the third vehicle of the fleet. “We thought the second truck would be the quickest option since we already had a good start on it,” Adam said.

So, work resumed on the second ’67 F100 pick-up truck in 2022, and it was completed before 2023 dawned. Adam and Jason went a slightly different direction with this truck, which holds the name ‘Burning Green,’ by LS-swapping it with a 5.3-liter base that got upgraded connecting rods and piston over stock GM offerings. A Holley Hi Ram intake with an adapter plate allows the engine to accept a 6-71 Littlefield blower running on methanol.

The dyno-verified 922 horsepower is passed to and a Quick Performance 9-inch rear end via the popular Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission.

“The LS choice for the Burning Green truck was an easy choice for us because of 2 reasons,” said Adam. “First, we had almost everything laying around to do it. Two, we wanted to go to LS Fest, which this will be our first year to Bowling Green.

I know the whole Chevy in a Ford is shunned on but these trucks, would have been crushed and never seen. So, I always tell people ‘Who cares’ as we are giving the trucks a new life they would have never had.”
