I Scream, You Scream, A Lot of People Scream to Drive the Sick the Mag BBQ - Ice Cream Truck on Sick Summer

After the Sick the Magazine BBQ - Ice Cream truck was wheeled by Rick and Jacki Steinke at this year’s Sick Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive (with an assist from Jeff Oppenheim, the question was: “what was the plan for Sick Summer Presented by Motion Raceworks?”

After much thought and reflection, Tom Bailey said “let’s open it up to submissions again.” We asked, and boy did you answer! So, we thought we’d share a few submissions that stood out to us.

We would like to be considered for the drivers of the BBQ - Ice Cream truck (names retracted). My son and I have first-hand knowledge / training on how to operate the truck properly as we were both taught by the master himself last summer. Tom taught us when to use the air horns and how to make great entrances into parking lots by blowing the horns, depleting the air supply and dropping the truck on the ground when we were going 20 mph. Also, (name retracted) is a master chef. Not too many others have ridden with Tom in the truck logging in around 300 miles.

Hello there! (Names retracted) I believe we are great fit to be the driver of the BBQ - Ice cream truck for Sick Summer for a few reasons!
1. We absolutely love racing
2. We are a great Team together!
3. We are very enthusiastic about being involved in such an Awesome event!
4. We are racers ourselves!
5. Would love to help out!
6. We got to meet Tom at Sick Week in Orlando with our (car retracted) when we were pitted next to him while we were running the Cadillac Attack event. He was such a down to earth guy. Enjoyed the small talk with him as we relaxed between rounds.

We are a husband-and-wife team that enjoy horsepower and Hot Rods of all kinds! We love seeing the different unique rides from all over! We enjoy giving back the racing community whenever we get the opportunity! We were the founders of a (car retracted) club for 6 years. We put on different events that would raise money for a charity that would take disabled adults and children on hunting and fishing trips. It was such a great feeling to help put smiles on faces!
We have dedicated our last few years building a race car again to be competitive. We now have what we believe is the Fastest (car retracted) in the country! We hope that you would consider us to help guide that Awesome van and help support Sick Summer!

Sooooo….I have a proposal! Let this adorable mother daughter duo have one SICK trip together piloting the BBQ ice cream truck during Sick Summer! I’m a sick week competitor, and I fell in love with sick week earlier this year! (Name retracted) is a graduating senior headed off to college in the fall for a pre-med/Neuroscience major with the goals of becoming a trauma surgeon. This mother-daughter duo is one of a kind! We both LOVE street cars and can talk cars and drag racing with anyone we meet. We never meet a stranger, and we are also probably the only two people who can out talk Derek Putnam! THIS is all why we think you should pick us!!!!

These are just a few of the great submissions we’ve received, and a decision of who will pilot the Sick BBQ - Ice Cream truck on Sick Summer is coming soon!
