From Death Valley, to the City of Jackpots, and the Rebirth of Tom Bailey’s Durango, Death Week Rolls into Las Vegas on Day Six

The third of four track visits in the books on Wednesday night, as Famoso Drag Strip provide the ‘hook and book’ with cool air and lots of wheelstands.

But we need to get back to Nevada, so Death Week got back on the road for a full drive day on Thursday.

When the Sick the Magazine crew checked out the route a few weeks back, the Grand Canyon route was shut down.

But Thursday found a group of competitors trying their luck on that route, and getting rewarded with getting to check out a unique sight.

For those going the alternative way, a pair of checkpoints in California awaited them in route to Nevada.

The first one was EddieWorld, and those with a sweet tooth would rejoice at all the offerings inside. The giant sundae structure would be the official photo needed.

Stop number two would take participants to Alien Fresh Jerky in Baker, California. The giant spaceship-themed building and robot at the front were just past the World’s Tallest Thermometer, and our Sick staff got a shot there as well!

From Alien Fresh Jerky, it was just over 75 miles to our final destination of the day – the Orleans Hotel and Casino. The property provided special parking for participants with small trailers.

Vegas also witnessed the re-birth of Tom Bailey’s Durango. Welder Up provided a place for Tom and Aydan to work on the Durango, and they installed a fresh bullet in time to roll to the Orleans and get front-row parking at valet.

A Friday in Vegas is always a good idea, and several Death Week competitors rolled to The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to enjoy a day at the NHRA national event being held this weekend.

A Death Week sticker even made an appearance on Antron Brown’s Top Fuel dragster.
